The company’s shares have fallen more than 30 percent since the hack, which exposed consumer names, Social Security numbers, birthdates, addresses and, in some cases, drivers’ license numbers. There is, however, some question as to whether they have the authority to do so — since Equifax is not strictly a financial company.
